SUSTAINABLE HEALTHCARE
Sahara Group Foundation in alignment with the sustainable development goal 3- good health and well-being, has invested in ensuring healthy lives and promoting well being for all at all ages in the communities we operate. In 2020, the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic necessitated value addition in access to quality healthcare in Nigeria. As the country’s infection rates spiked, a consortium of private sector organizations spearheaded by Sahara Group set up a 360-bed isolation and treatment centre at the THISDAY Dome in FCT, Abuja.
In the aftermath of the pandemic, the isolation centre was decommissioned, Sahara Group Foundation allocated functional medical equipments and items to selected general hospitals and primary health centres across Nigeria, with the aim of ensuring the proper use of these medical resources. Over the past six months, we have donated a fully equipped Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and a range of vital medical equipment to various general hospitals and primary health centers across the country. These beneficiary institutions include Omoku Primary Healthcare Centre, Alode Health Centre in Rivers State, National Hospital in Abuja, Federal Medical Centre in Jabi, Maitama District Hospital in Abuja, Ibafon Primary Healthcare Centre in Apapa, and Ijede General Hospital in Ikorodu, Lagos state.
The donated medical equipment will not only enable the hospital to provide top-notch care and address a broad spectrum of medical requirements, but also significantly enhance their operational efficiency. This contribution demonstrates our unwavering dedication to fostering sustainable societies and thriving communities, ultimately transforming thousands of lives and promoting a culture of sustainable living that extends far beyond our immediate communities
